FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does my doctor need to order my exam?
In most cases, yes. Minneapolis Radiology requests a written order from a physician for most imaging exams. However, in the case of preventative heart and lung screening exams, no referral is required.
Do I need an appointment?
In most cases, yes. Specialized exams such as magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasound, mammography, bone densitometry and interventional procedures do require an appointment. Minneapolis Radiology makes every effort to offer same day or next day appointments for these exams.
Plain film x-ray exams (for example, chest x-rays, or bone films like ankles or wrists), however, can be performed on a walk-in basis. Patients should bring the written order from their physician, if available.
What paperwork should I bring with me?
Please bring your insurance card with you to your appointment to ensure we have the most accurate information on file. If you have been given a written order for the exam from you physician, please bring this with you. Also helpful would be a list of current medications and any allergies.
Do I need any special preparation for my test?
When your healthcare provider schedules your appointment, you will be given instructions to follow if necessary. You may also review the section of the website with questions and answers specific each exam type. See Our Services.
What if I am claustrophobic?
Today's scanners have been designed with patient comfort in mind. No longer do the scanners resemble long, narrow tunnels. The openings are much larger and the bores much shorter. Most claustrophobic patients need no special preparations. If you are extremely claustrophobic, inform your doctor and notify our office prior to your appointment and we will do our best to assist you.
Are your doctors board certified?
Yes. All radiologists with Minneapolis Radiology are board certified by the American Board of Radiology. In addition, many hold certification in subspecialty areas such as neuroradiology and interventional radiology.
Are your technologists registered?
Yes. Minneapolis Radiology hires only ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) registered technologists in all areas, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and general radiography.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
Minneapolis Radiology contracts with most major health plans and will submit claims for non-contracted plans as a courtesy for our patients.
Do you have a payment plan?
Minneapolis Radiology generally does not accept payment plans, but exceptions can be accommodated in certain circumstances. Contact our business office at (763) 559-2171 for more information.
How will I receive my results?
Following your exam, a radiologist will analyze and interpret the images from your exam and prepare a full report. This report will be sent directly to your physician who will share the results with you.
How can I get a copy of the report?
Your physician will receive the report from your exam. To request a copy of the report, contact your physician’s office.
